Berry French Toast Casserole

Prep Time - 55 minutes

Serves 6-8

INGREDIENTS

Original Crumble Topping

  • ¼ cup flour

  • ¼ cup brown sugar

  • ¼ tsp cinnamon pinch of salt

  • 4 tbsp melted butter

For Serving

  • Powdered sugar

  • Maple syrup

  • Extra berries

Casserole Base

  • 5 Dave’s Killer Bread Summer Berry Bagels

  • 8 large eggs

  • 1½ cups milk

  • ½ cup heavy cream

  • 2 tbsp maple syrup

  • 2 tbsp brown sugar

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • ¼ tsp salt

Fruit

  • 1 cup strawberries, sliced

  • ¾ cup blueberries

  • ½ cup raspberries

Directions

Prep Bagels

  1. Preheat oven to 300°F

  2. Cut the bagels into 1 inch cubes.

  3. Spread on a baking sheet and toast for 10 minutes until slightly dry (This helps the bread absorb the custard without becoming soggy)

Assemble the Casserole

  1. Lightly grease a 9x13 baking dish

  2. Add toasted bagel cubes and half of the berries

Custard

  1. Whisk together eggs, milk, cream, maple syrup, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, salt

  2. Pour evenly over the bagels

  3. Press the bread gently so it absorbs the custard

  4. Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours or overnight

Add crumble topping (optional)

  1. Mix together flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, salt, melted butter

  2. Sprinkle the mixture over the casserole

  3. Add remaining berries

Bake

  1. Bake at 350°F for 40–45 minutes until center is set and the top is a light golden color

  2. Note: if it browns too quickly, tent loosely with foil

Serve

  1. Let rest for 5-10 minutes

  2. Dust with powdered sugar and serve for maple syrup
