Dave’s Killer Smash Burgers

INGREDIENTS:

  • 4 Dave’s Killer Bread 21 Whole Grain & Seeds Burger Buns

  • 1 pound ground beef

  • ½ tsp. garlic powder

  • ½ tsp. onion powder

  • 1 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce

  • ½ tsp. black pepper

  • ½ tsp. sea salt

  • 1 Tbsp. avocado oil

  • 4 slices cheddar cheese

  • 1 cup butter lettuce, to serve

  • ½ cup pickled onions, to serve

  • 1 avocado, sliced, to serve

Directions:

  1. Prepare burgers: in a large bowl, mix together ground beef, garlic powder, onion powder, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, and sea salt. Use your hands to evenly mix. 

  2. Form the burger mixture into four large meatballs (about 4 ounces each), and squish gently into a 1-inch-thick disc. Refrigerate for 15 minutes, or until ready to cook.  

  3. Add avocado oil to a heavy cast-iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add the burgers to the skillet, smashing each burger flat with a metal spatula until about ¼-inch.  

  4. Cook burgers for 2 minutes until browned. Flip burgers and top with cheese. Cook for about 2 minutes more for medium-rare to medium burgers, or 3 minutes for medium to medium-well burgers.  

  5. Place the burgers on buns and serve with toppings of choice: lettuce, onions, and sliced avocado. Enjoy!
